Welcome!
I want to welcome you to the 2023 - 2024 school year. Communication between parents, students and myself, to me, is the most important piece to ensure student success. I will be using the following methods to facilitate communication:
- Infinite Campus Portal: I will be keeping the gradebook up to date. My expectation for myself is to update the gradebook daily.
- Google Classroom: Each course will have a specific classroom code. I will be posting information, such as announcements, assignments, and videos you will need, or want, to be successful in class.
- E-mail: I check email frequently during the school day and several times during the evening. I will strive to respond to emails within one school day (often times much quicker).
- This web site: My course policies and expectations will be posted here. Additionally, there are places for ideas for both parents and students to help the student be successful. Finally, there are links to other web sites that provide additional resources to help you be successful in class.

I feel mathematics is more about the thought processes and reasoning, which occurs while solving problems rather than just getting the right answers. Math is not about the numbers, equations, computations or algorithms. It is about using our tools to solve problems and understand the process. I also believe the ability to communicate mathematically is as important a skill as being able to do the mathematics itself.
Below are a couple videos from a television show from 2006 called "Numb3rs" (one of my all time favorite shows) that explains the importance of math in our lives:
