Mathematics at Park High School
A minimum of three credits of math are required for graduation from high school. Students must take math courses in both 9th and 10th grades to receive adequate preparation for the math portion of the Wisconsin Standardized testing.
- Math Lab
This course is designed to give students who would struggle in a mathematics class the support they need to be successful. Each student will be required to own a scientific calculator. - Algebra 1
Algebra is a first year high school course in college preparatory mathematics. Topics include using variables to write and manipulate mathematical expressions, equations, formulas and functions to solve problems. Each student will be required to own a scientific calculator. - Pre-AP Algebra 1
Pre-AP Algebra is a course that teaches both Algebraic and Critical Thinking skills, preparing students to take future AP Mathematics course. Topics include using variables to write and manipulate mathematical expressions, equations, formulas and functions to solve problems. Each student will be required to own a scientific calculator. - Applied Technical Mathematics
Applied Technical Mathematics is a Dual Credit course with Gateway Technical College. This hands-on math course reviews basic mathematical operations, basic algebra and trigonometry related to technical fields. The second half of the course covers geometric principles along with calculations of linear, area and volume measurements. Includes interpreting and sketching graphs, the metric system, a method to solve technical conversions problems, and an introduction to statistics. - Geometric Concepts
This course deals with properties of plane and solid figures. It helps to develop logical thinking processes, and the precise use of language. The student taking this course would normally not be planning to take high school calculus. Each student will be required to own a scientific calculator. - CP Geometry
This college preparatory course deals with properties of plane and solid figures. It helps to develop logical thinking processes, an understanding of methods of proof, and the precise use of language. Each student will be required to own a scientific calculator. - Algebra 2
This course deals with intermediate topics in Algebra and an introduction to Trigonometry. The student taking this course would normally not be planning to take high school calculus. Each student will be required to own a scientific calculator. - Algebra 2 - Trigonometry
This college preparatory course deals with intermediate topics in Algebra and provides a foundation in Trigonometry. Each student will be required to own a scientific calculator but a graphing calculator. - Math Studies
This course is recommended for students who are planning on a course of study geared towards the liberal arts. It concentrates on math that can be applied to real world situations at home, work, and leisure, and includes projects involving a math investigation, research, evaluation, analysis, and written work. Math topics include algebra, logic, probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and financial math. A graphing calculator is required. - AP Pre-Calculus
This course is recommended especially for students preparing for math-related careers in such areas as science, engineering and business. Each student will be required to own a graphing calculator. - Statistics
In this course, students learn how information is gathered, organized and analyzed by the use of statistical methods. Students will learn to decipher statistical information. Each student will be required to own a scientific calculator with 2-variable statistical functions or a graphing calculator. - AP Statistics
This course covers all of the topics required by the College Board for AP Statistics, which encompasses the following themes: exploratory analysis, planning and conducting a study, probability, and statistical inference. College credit may be earned based on the AP Statistics exam. Computers and graphing calculators will be used extensively. Each student will be required to own a computer storage device and a graphing calculator with statistical functions. - AP Calculus AB
This full-year course is equivalent to the first semester of college calculus. All of the topics required by the College Board for AP Calculus are covered. Each student will be required to own a graphing calculator.
