Math Studies
Suggested Class Supplies
- Pencils – since part of learning math is making mistakes, the ability to erase and keep the work neat makes it easier for the student and I to follow the corrected work. Anything submitted in pen will not be graded for credit.
- Notebook(s) – dedicated to taking math notes.
- Loose Leaf Paper – optional – for doing homework.
- Calculator – optional – such as TI-30XS or Casio fx- 300MS
- Graph Paper – optional – Many students find doing their work on graph paper helpful for two reasons. First, if they need to create a graph, they may do so right next to their work. Second, it helps the student keep the work organized both horizontally and vertically.
- Erasers – optional – Often with mathematics, the erasers on pencils become used up well before the pencil is, so spare tip erasers or a separate eraser helps in keeping the work neat and organized.
Calculators
I would encourage you to have an actual physical calculator such as a TI-30XS, Casio fx-300MS, or similar for use in the class. We will be focusing on using technology to assist us in our problem solving. While you may use the calculator on your phone, generally, it will cause many issues for you as they do not usually follow order of operations, nor allow the direct imputing of complex calculations in one step.
